State Department approves sale of excess armoured vehicles to Emirates

The possibility of supplying a large batch of armoured vehicles with increased protection in the amount of $556 million to the UAE was approved by the State Department on May 7, the Agency for Defense Cooperation and Security (USA) reports. This is a batch of 4,569 MRAP class military vehicles. Armoured vehicles of Caiman and M-ATV and MaxxPro families can be delivered to the Emirates. At the same time, the approval of supplies by the U.S. Foreign Ministry does not mean that a deal has been concluded between Washington and Abu Dhabi. The U.S. agency added that armoured vehicles will be delivered to the UAE (if any) as part of the program of transfer of surplus military equipment. Recall, MRAP are wheel armoured vehicles with reinforced mine protection. The United States began mass production of these vehicles after the entry of troops into Iraq.
