Kyrgyz President: Pandemic threats persist, a ban on celebrations is needed

President Sooronbay Jeenbekov today, June 30, took part in the oath-taking ceremony by new members of the Kyrgyz government and addressed compatriots in connection with a sharp increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection. According to him, after the abolition of the state of emergency, curfews and restrictions on the movement of citizens, the number of new outbreaks of coronavirus infection in the republic increased significantly, especially in the capital. The head of state noted that the authorities have the opportunity to ensure order by re-imposing strict restrictions, but will not reintroduce the quarantine regime and curfew so as not to stop economic activity in the country again. Jeenbekov also drew attention to the fact that many Kyrgyz, including officials, ignoring the threats of the coronavirus pandemic, began to hold celebrations and other mass events. I believe that this is an inexcusable abuse in relation to the health and safety of the nation! This is a disgusting attitude to the results of the work of all our doctors, law enforcement officers and other relevant employees who, from March of the month without sleep and rest, days and nights are on the guard of the health and safety of the people!, he stressed. The President stated that recently the number of infected among the participants of family celebrations and other mass events has been increasing. The time has come for the republican headquarters to provide for an official ban on such solemn mass festivities, aggravating the epidemiological situation in the country, summed up Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
